J. Worra
Classic house meets new school tech with Native Chicagoan now-Los Angeles based DJ and producer Jamie Sitter, a.k.a. “J. Worra”. Best known for her creativity as a producer and skills behind the decks, she brings an inimitable swagger and technical prowess to dance music’s underground scene, lending these unique skills to every venture of her life spanning music, fashion, and art.
Hailed as DJ Mag’s 2019 Breakthrough Music Producer of the Year, she’s released on tastemaker labels such as Club Sweat (‘So Excited’/‘Do It This Way’ Double A-Side), Techne (‘Now Ya Know’), Realm Records (‘Bounce Back’, ‘Just Because’) and more, along with a plethora of official remixes for GRiZ (‘Medusa’), Gryffin and Gorgon City (‘Baggage (with AlunaGeorge)’), Kaskade (‘Tight’), and deadmau5 (‘Ride or Cry’). 2020-2021 promises to be a big year for Jamie as she continues her trajectory with forthcomings on Sweat It Out and Sink or Swim, as well as back-to-business regular club plays across the United States.
Emanating from Chicago has had an eminent impact on J. Worra’s music trajectory. Having caught the music bug at a young age, she begged her parents to buy her music lessons, but to no avail. Without giving up hope, she bought an electric piano and an old acoustic guitar found at a garage sale to start. Eventually, her curiosity led her to electronic music in 2010 when she bought production software, self-teaching with Google and YouTube as the occasional mentors. Jamie’s passion combined with a strong work ethic to develop her fundamental knowledge and appreciation for house music.
Early in her career, J. Worra began making moves by winning various DJ competitions for Groove Cruise and Spring Awakening Music Festival. Those wins quickly leveled to various club shows and notable festival plays throughout the years at Dirtybird Campout, Lightning In a Bottle, HARD, CRSSD, Beyond Wonderland, Holy Ship!, Splash House, EDC, and Coachella. In addition to her regular appearances on the festival circuit, she’s amassed a global presence while becoming an in-demand livestream act on streams for Insomniac, Beatport, Desert Hearts, Factory 93, Mixmag, Proximity, and Retrospekt Festival.
Presently, she lives in Los Angeles with her Bischon Poodle named Peter. When she’s not performing, Jamie likes to cook and support local charities addressing mental illness, support for LGBTQ youth and animal rescue.
As Jamie’s meteoric rise continues to unfold, she’ll be remembered as someone who pushed boundaries and makes a positive impact on the world, all the while cementing her reputation as one of dance music’s most authentic mu-sicians delivering diverse house records for old and new school heads alike.
